PC ROOMS REGULATIONS
The PC
rooms of Computer Center are established to serve the students of the
university for the purposes of doing their course works and carrying out "academic"
researches about their courses. To maintain the peaceful working environment of
the PC rooms for the reasons mentioned above, the following activities will not
be allowed:
1.
Playing
games, watching movies in any of the environments (CD, web etc.) and playing
music loudly,
2.
Viewing web
pages that violate the moral codes and guidelines of the society,
3.
Sending
e-mail with a content that conflicts with the ethical codes of the Internet, (spam
mail, storing and transferring unlicensed software)
4.
Using mobile
phones in the PC rooms, (since they disrupt the peaceful working environment of
the PC rooms, holders of the phones must keep the silent mode of their phones
on, and they should not talk on the phones in the PC rooms.)
5.
Bringing food
and beverage to the PC rooms, (to keep the cleanliness of PC rooms and to
prevent the crumbs and residues of food and drinks giving harm to the
keyboards, bringing food and beverages to the PC rooms is not allowed.)
6.
Conformity
with the regulations about clothing, (this is a declaration of State Higher
Education Commission that is announced on November 22nd, 1999 (item 1999/4631)
to the Presidency of the University and later it is distributed by the
Presidency to all academic and administrative departments to be put into
practice.)
7.
Smoking in
the PC rooms, (smoking indoors is prohibited by the law number 4207)
8.
Talking
loudly or working in groups, (these are not allowed in order to keep the PC
rooms as silent and suitable working environments. To provide fair conditions
for those students, who wish to study in groups, Dormitory II Top Floor PC Room
is arranged for group studies)
9.
Attempting to
enter to PC rooms with somebody else's ID card, or insisting on using computers
without declaring an ID.
10.
Struggling
with PC room officials, not taking their warnings into consideration,

Installing
and using softwares that threaten information security,
12.
Harming
computer software and hardware.

§
During
the period of prohibition penalized students' user codes on central server
systems will be blocked and unable to make use of the METU Computer Center PC
rooms.
§
After the
expiration of penalty, users must go to room 114 at METU Computer Center and
finalize the transaction.
